Closure Pathways, LNAPL Policy in Colorado and OPS Updates

Speaker: Tom Fox, Environmental Protection Specialist, CO Division of Oil and Public Safety

About the Speaker:

Tom Fox graduated from Michigan State University with an MS in Geology. He participated in petroleum exploration with a major oil company before transitioning to environmental consulting in 1987, working mainly on assessment and remediation of petroleum hydrocarbon contamination. He joined the Colorado Division of Oil & Public Safety in 2007 as an Environmental Protection Specialist. He has been involved in developing electronic formats for standardized reporting, evaluating using activated carbon for petroleum cleanup, studying LNAPL transmissivity in relation to recovery efforts, providing content for OPS' online guidance document, and teaching classes for consultants on OPS protocols for proper assessment and CAP development. He currently oversees about 70 petroleum cleanups in Colorado, is a trainer for ITRC's internet-based training for LNAPL remediation (will be teaching that subject in China next month) and is working with the recently-formed ITRC Advanced Site Characterization Tools group.
